Comprehensive Dental Examination Ajax
A Dental Appointment with Health Saving Potential
Consistent dental examinations are essential to maintaining your oral health. Your comprehensive dental exam helps prevent tooth loss and further damage to your teeth caused by oral disease.
Your initial comprehensive dental examination is our introduction to you. It’s important to get acquainted with you personally, your previous dental experiences, and your specific oral health goals and expectations as our patient.
Your treatment plan will focus on your personal dental health needs. Each plan you receive will treat the specific issues that maintain the health of your teeth and help you achieve your oral health goals.
Improve your oral health
Your Ajax dentist, Dr. Shields, will assess the health of your teeth and gums during your appointment. We will focus on improving your dental health and discuss your comprehensive oral hygiene.
- TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) evaluation to assess your jaw, head, and neck pain or teeth grinding issues.
- Oral cancer screen to detect any oral tissue abnormalities that could lead to more serious health risks.
- Occlusion observation to determine the health of your bite and tooth alignment.
- Oral hygiene check to answer any of your questions about your routine, at-home tooth and gum care.
- Periodontal exam for maintaining the health of your gums and helping reduce your risk of periodontal (gum) disease.
- Thorough teeth check for cavities, discoloration, evidence of decay and any other risks to your overall oral health.
Reduce your health risks
Dr. Shields will inform you of any risk factors to your teeth and gums. He will also discuss your health history and current medications to help you avoid any potential complications to your dental health.
Accurate diagnosis and treatment plan
Digital x-rays might also be necessary. This technology enables Dr. Shields to provide an accurate treatment plan for improving your oral health. In some cases, we may also take study models and/or photographs to help us get a better understanding of your mouth’s condition.
