Many of us hide behind our hand when we smile. We’re ashamed of our teeth and worry that people will judge us for having a crooked tooth or two. There are various orthodontic treatments available that can restore your confidence and give you the perfect smile. Six month braces and clear aligners are orthodontic interventions designed to offer an alternative to traditional braces.

Clear aligners, often known by the brand name Invisalign, are trays specifically fit to your mouth that slightly shift your teeth into a more pleasing position. Every two weeks or so you’ll need to switch to your next set of aligners to continue the correction. The treatment itself can take anywhere from six months to two years.

Six month braces are a short-term cosmetic orthodontic treatment that moves your teeth into proper positioning by using clear brackets and tooth-coloured wires. They are called 6 month braces treatment because that is the average amount of time it takes to aesthetically correct your teeth. However, you may only need to wear them for as little as four months or as long as nine months.

Pros And Cons

Six month braces are usually more affordable than clear aligners. Furthermore, short-term braces take approximately six months whereas you may have to wear clear aligners for about two years. When you wear six month braces, you are able to brush your teeth and eat as normal.

Although many people enjoy the fact that clear aligners are removable, it’s important to remember that you do have to wear them for at least 22 hours a day. You can only remove the aligners to eat and clean them. Six month braces are not removable but you’re only wearing them for the short-term.

Both 6 month braces treatment and clear aligners address the same issues like spacing/gaps, crossbites, tipped or snaggle teeth, overcrowding and rotations (when teeth stick out and are prone to getting food stuck in or around them).
